Want To Help?

Scouting is the largest youth movement in the World and St. Oliver's Scout Group is one of the largest Organisations in the town of Drogheda and plays a prominent part in the national Association, Scouting Ireland. Based at the Scout Center in Crushrod Lane (facing the entrance of Glenmore Drive) and with an outdoor base at our campsite outside the village of Collin, the Group endeavors to provide an active programme based on the theme of "fun, friendship and challenge" to all our members aged from 6 to 18 years.
This involves weekly meetings Rafting on the River Simme near Bern, Switzerland
and outdoor activities at weekends.

St. Oliver's Scout Group is grateful to the people of Drogheda for all the support it has got since our establishment back in 1935. We are always on the look for resources to help us in the delivery of our programme. Would you like to become a Leader on a full-time basis in one of our many Sections or maybe you have a skill that you can impart on a part-time basis? Maybe, join our Parents & Friends Support Group? If you are interested, please shoot an email to info@droghedascouts.org or contact one of our Leaders.

However, please read our Leader's Charter before signing up:

Alas, Poor Leader, Thy Name is Scapegoat

If a leader writes a letter.....It is too long.
If he sends a postcard.....It is too short.
If he sends a bulletin.....It is too expensive.
If he calls a meeting.....He is wasting time.
If he doesn't call a meeting.....He is a "know it all".
If attendance at the meeting is slack.....He should have phoned all the members.
If he does phone them.....He is a pest.
If he asks where the money went.....He is insulting.
If he does not.....He is not interested.
If a function is a huge success.....The Committee gets the praise.
If it is a failure.....He is to blame.
If he asks for advice.....He is incompetent.
If he does not.....He is trying to run the show.
But trust us it is worth all the effort !
