Welcome to the official website of St. Oliver's Scout Group which is based in Drogheda, Ireland. The Unit was established in 1935 and has been a vibrant part of the Community since then. The Unit consists of two Scout Troops, two Cub Pack, two Beaver Colonies and a Venture Group.

Scouting is an international youth movement with a purpose - to give our young people the opportunity to develop as responsible citizens of this planet through an outdoor based programme of fun, friendship and challenges.

The Scout method is making a personal commitment to a simple code of living, the Scout Promise and the Scout Law.

and allow them to have a greater understanding of the world in which we live and the environments and people that make that world. In St. Oliver's Unit, we strongly believe this and always keep this in mind when we are developing and delivering our various Scouting programs.

The Scouting Movement was founded in 1907 and has never stopped growing. There will be major international celebrations at the centenary of the founding in 2007. There are recognized Scout Associations in over 200 countries worldwide with over 25 million members.

The programme of Scouting has one fundamental dimension which determines how it is carried out. This is known as the Scout Method. It is a system of progressive self-education through:

· A Promise and Law
· Learning by Doing
· Membership of Small Groups
· Progressive programming involving and outdoor setting
.

St. Oliver's Group has been continuously active in the community since 1935 starting off with a mere 8 members. Since then the Unit has grown continuously and to this today provides an active programme for its members through a combination of weekly meetings and outdoor activities. The Unit caters for all elements in the Scout programme from the ages of 6 to 18 years.

Take a look around this site and hopefully you will get an insight into a Scout Unit with a proud tradition in serving the young people of Drogheda and an active member of the worldwide Scouting community.
